section cuts

when i took a section cut reducing my three story building to one story the railings on all the stairs remained above the section line (they continued up to the third story) while everything else was cut.

wondering why?

I've seen this beahvior before. Its very similiar to how stairs and rails tend to behave with plan regions, ie a plan region has to compeletley encompass the extents of a stair and rail, in order for the stair and rail to be cut properly by the plan region. The only thing I can't remember, is if I've had times when the 3D section did cut the stair rails correctly. What is even more mystifying by this image is that the stairs are cutting properly....

Not much help I know... try recreating the 3D view?

have you set the 3D view to use the section as a scope box ?

yes, try using the section box under visibility properties. key code ' V P '
It's located under the extents tab, then you can drag and pull the tabs of the section box in the 3d view to hide the railings...

i seem to have been able to rid of the railings!
i cleared the "crop region" box and retried it.
