I am in the process of designing a theme park and i have some large mountains and canyons where i need to create a tunnel through mountains in the mining town for the train to pass through. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to create a horizontal hole I.E. Tunnel thru the toposurface. Any other approach suggestions would be appriceated.

I hear you... there's nothing that I know that will do what you want. I would like to do something similar to your case for underground construction that has landscaping over it.
In these cases there's nothing for it but to model the parts of the terrain that do have subgrade construction under them. FWIW, I used a lot of blends to make the terrain model.

Wow! I'm impressed that you are using Revit to design a theme park! I'm not sure how you might construct the tunnel in Revit. I wonder if a Site based family can use a void to cut the site topo? I'll look into it a bit.

There is no way to cut a void in a topo surf. what you will need to do its split the topo surf. at the entry and exit points of the tunnel in plan, then delete those portions of the topo surf. now fill that with the tunnel extrusion. Only problem is, in section the toposurf's fill pattern will still project thru your tunnel. so you may have to just use filled regions in your sections.

It may be as quick, if you have lots of sections, to make a tunnel family with filled regions incorporatewd into it, that way it will appear to cut the topo in section.
