Can anyone tell me how to make a 3d section model of my current revit project? I'd like to cut 1 or 2 sections in my building model and be able to show that in 3d, either in perspective or axonometric. Is this even possible, or will i have to basically build it from scratch?

PS. Why does the spell check not recognize Revit? Kind of ironic.

Create a duplicate of your 3D view...
Right-Click> Duplicate>

Then in the new 3D view go into visibility properties...
Right-Click> View Properties> Extents Tab> Check the box labeled "Section Box">

Then in the 3D view select the now visible section box, and blue arrows will become visible on the Section Box. From there you can modify the section box to your liking.

Hope this helps,

To get the perspective effect, add a camera looking back into the model in front where the section box intersects the model.

You can also match a section box to any other view, floorplan, section, detail, etc. Just create a section in plan where you want it, then in 3d click, view>orient to view>select the section, then use the eyeball to rotate the view and you will have a cut that matches your section or plan, its great for exploded axos or 3d floor plans/sections.

By using Mr Brown's method you get the exact representation of your section, not an approximation like in Seth method. Revit will adjust the section box based on the section line.

I do not work directly with Rob. He is in our Las Vegas office while I'm out in our Newport Beach, CA Office...

Daniel, do you work in the Montreal, Quebec, or Poland office?
and
How do you know Rob?

Wow that must be cool, do they fly you from office to office?

I'm assuming you knew each other through school or work?

No need to fly from Moontreal to Quebec. And we've met through AUGI and Sceno-Plus
