View Full Version : Finish Schedule, different finishes on each wall?

What are people doing to address really complex finish schedules like this? Do you actually add parameters for every wall? Do you add multiple floor finish parameters so you can have two or three floor materials? Also, are people doing a single parameter with a value like MDF/P1 for painted MDF trim? Or do you do seperate Material and Finish parameters, again for every wall?
I imagine this all getting crazy busy really fast, but the other option seems to be export to Excel, which makes any changes like adding a room a bit of a pain.
Any recomendations are greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Gordon

Yes, we actually add a parameter for each wall, even though a lot of the time they are all the same. Although I kind of cheat, once I have it set up in one project file, and just copy and paste it in to new ones when I need it. That way I don't have to add the parameters every time. And they are just dummy place holders for text, not parametric.

A finish schedule based on Rooms doesn't know anything about the surrounding walls so I use instance parameters (possibly controlled by a Room Key).
What you and Vanessa are talking about I think is more akin to a material takeoff schedule isn't it?

I posted a revit file with a room finish schedule that works quite well, and yes, we identify each wall and finish for each room. Do a search for either my name or sample room finish schedule. The use of key schedules is important in simplifying the amount of work required.
