I have some Problems in Revit. I am new at revit
1. most of my time gets used up in cleaning wall joins
could u plz give me tips on how to do walls so they cleanup better?
2. when in a section if i have to make some lines invisible and when i try to draw corrected lines it becomes difficult for me to pick the plane. How do u do that?
3. i used to get a plot of A3 size by getting the print on two A4 size paper than joining them to make A3 size print. How will u do it in revit
plz help.
4. what do u mean by RCP,SIM,TYP & one more symbol like them i don't remember it now

We might need examples, the only joints I need to clean up often are where 3 but mainly 4 walls come together
2. when in a section if i have to make some lines invisible and when i try to draw corrected lines it becomes difficult for me to pick the plane. How do u do that?
If you are making a particular section look good...use detail lines, not model lines. detail lines don't need you to specify a workplane. (find it in the "Drafting" Design bar towards the bottom..named "Detail Lines")
3. i used to get a plot of A3 size by getting the print on two A4 size paper than joining them to make A3 size print. How will u do it in revit
plz help.
I was in a small office in Poland for 1 1/2 years and we did that ALL the time....2 ways...
1st way: just create 2 floor plans and put a symbol to help you cut the page[most accurate]
2nd way: place crops on a A3 sheet and print "Visible portion of Current window" [not most accurate and it will drive you crazy in the long run]
4. what do u mean by RCP,SIM,TYP & one more symbol like them i don't remember it now
RCP=Reflected Ceiling Plan, SIM=SIMilar, TYP=TYPical, ??? which other one?
Hope I helped a little

Just to add a little to Luigi's brilliance...

I would just use the Lineweight tool in elevation views to create your invisible lines... (See attachment)

yes i am talking about that and the one in which u have Z shape walls in level 1
and L shape walls on level 2
also being a novice i would like to see general tips if any

plz explain this way what do u mean by symbol and how can u cut a floorplan i think u mean sheet
RCP=Reflected Ceiling Plan, SIM=SIMilar, TYP=TYPical, ??? which other one?
it was something like OHP,still don't remember exactly just found it in this forum somewhere

I actually meant 2 floor plans, but also 2 sheets...duplicate the floor plan, so you have 2 floor plans
One floor plan that would be in one a4 sheet and the other floor plan to the other half of A4 sheet....
With symbol I meant a thin line that you will use as a guideline to cut the end of A4, to then tape to the other A4.
You can use Scope Boxes in case you have multiple floors, ceiling plans, sections, elevations....search Scope Boxes and you will see what they do...but in short, it is like a boundary box that you can use to automatically cut every view...so you would have one scope box for the A4 Left and one scope box for the A4 right (of course providing an overlap) and assign each scope box to the proper half of the plan....
You will also need 2 title blocks if the sheet info is on the right side of the page...one with the info and one without the info......
I still can't guess what ph* might mean..sorry!

OHP not OPH ? OPH may mean OPposite Hand..... Usually OH means Over Head...but I don't know what OHP might mean..sorry

thanx for the replydidn't miss....jus not a question I am able to answer for you at this time......
OPH is used an a section/detail tha is exactly the same as another one....just mirrorred(look at the palm of your Hand, then flip your hand you have same shape...just Opposite Hand) so in Revit you would have one real section/detail and in other places you woul do a referance section/detail (before you select a boundary of a section/callout,in the option bar yo have a "reference" option....then you select the view from the list

Well this one is mayber a cop out, but it was the best advice I was ever given with Revit quite a long time ago.
Wall joins used to cause me a lot of trouble as I always thought I had to make the work "properly" - but I have long since learnt that if you have a complex junction and it doesnt work out pretty much within 2 minutes - give up. If you have to use the disallow join on some of the walls, do it, all you have to really worry about is to make sure the elevations 3D's are ok. Just patch up the plan with filled regions. Make some detail groups from your patchwork and copy them around.
I apply the same to window and door jambs etc. Filled regions, Ok - not pretty in terms of being 100% Revit correct - but looks exactly the same on paper and saves you a lot of messing about in frustration....... if they are grouped, they have the advantage that chaning one changes them all. works fine for me!

I concur with this, except before using a filled region, I try joining the geometry which usually works and creates a clean joint. Sometimes the exterior elevation needs patching if the end of the wall shows thru.

thanx martin perhaps thats the advice i always needed .After coming from autocad u always expect every other software to be that much perfect.but how do u use filled regions, i only know to use linework tool.If u could post some examples it would be better for a novice like me to understand revit
i must admit because of u peoplz help i have managed to come so far.Thanx to everybody
