I would like to know if I am understanding this correctly - it is possible to tag a detail component (including a 2 pick family), but it is not possible to schedule them in a multi-category schedule. I'm kind of confused on this issue, any clarification would be appreciated. Thanks!

Don't have an answer for you but I am curious... what are you trying to accomplish by scheduling Detail Components?

I was experimenting with doing a schedule of bathroom accessories, one of which was a ceramic tile base that I did as a detail component. I have all the shared parameters where I need them to be, and I was able to tag it - I just don't seem to be able to schedule it in the multi-category schedule I created.

Instead of using a Detail Component try using a Generic Model with the appropriate Category checked... we know they'll schedule.

I'm pretty sure that the multi-category schedule can only schedule categories that could be scheduled in there own schedule. So anything in the category list in the schedule dialogue. As Detail Items are not in that list they would not be able to be scheduled. This is something that you should submit to Autodesk for a future release.

Thanks. That works like I want it too. I initially did it fairly quickly, and I think I got thrown off by the fact that it would tag but not schedule.

Hi!
Another question on topic. By some reason it is impossible to create a detail component tag which reads individual element mark, only "type mark". But inspite of it it is possible to mark element by it "comments". Is it a feature or a bug?

You choose.
My frustration is not being able to schedule the detail components. Not for output purposes, but for the parameters management.
Any medium sized project has a few dozen detail families and unlike model components (with their schedules), they are a pain to deal with.
I can only check for errors looking at detail tags, or editing the type individually.
I would also love to see them exported via RDBLink for the same purpose.
Has anyone been able to find a workaround this issues?
Thanks

What type of tag do you use to tag a detail component?

Thanks,
