Hi guys, does anyone know, is there any intention of creating a method of getting a building out of revit and into Naviworks? I know it can be done through acis but that just comes in as a solid model. What would be good is if an 3d output like 3d dwf could be done and be importable with all relevant information.

You could talk directly with the Navis guys, I did hear that they were looking at how to import Revit models so there may already exist a beta or something.

Alternatively try zooming away from the building in a 3D view, setting wireframe and then exporting to AutoCAD. you should get all the meshes - complete with the problems of faceting people have experienced in Viz/Max - but it will give you the surfaces for viewing/walking through/clash detecting etc.

Peter is right, talk to Navisworks. They do indeed have a NWC exporter for Revit via the API. We use it nearly everyday, works very well. I don't think it's in beta anymore. Check out this link:

Chris,

Does it export all models in a linked project?

Chris,

Does it export all models in a linked project?

Guy
Guy,

Unfortunately, NO it does not export out linked files. You have export them out manually from each project then recompile them in navisworks, a fairly simple, albeit, annoying task.
