View Full Version : Attaching Structural Columns to Footings

Our structural consultant has run into this problem and I have investigated it a little:

The options for attaching the base of a structural column to an element seem to be a roof, floor, level, reference plane, ceiling or a beam. There is no option for attaching a column base to a (structural) footing. Am I alone in thinking this is illogical?

I can attach a column base to a floor drawn to be the size of the desired footing, but then Revit (accurately) warns me that I am attaching a structural object to a non-structural one. I have also tried adding a strong reference plane inside the footing family which does not work. Creating reference planes or levels for all the footings when you're dealing with several hundred columns, most of which are on separate elevations, is way to tedious.

Both Revit Building and Revit Structure seem to have the same issue.

Has anyone else run into this problem?
