Furniture on Color Fill

Anyone else find some furniture families show as white over a color fill?
I cannot figure out why some furniture blocks the color fill and some other do not?

Some have 3D info displayed in plan view. Others show only 2D linework in plan. Depends on the author of the family.

Oh that explains that but the one I am having trouble with is in some training material from Autodesk and apparently this is history families because we cannot Edit the Family. They must be hold overs from before release 7.
So poo on that for this exercise at least.
