Importing a Loft (it's a 3D dwg)

I am having some troubles with importing a 3D CAD dwg. The object in question is a loft that will serves as a canopy above an entrance to a convention center. It seems like a simple situation, and I feel that I am prolly just missing something basic (and it is more than likely an issue in CAD, not Revit). When the (3D) loft is imported from CAD to Revit, a few of the pieces of the canopy disappear. Can someone walk me through the process? I have attached a pic of the loft in CAD so you can see what it should look like. Also in the attachment is the generic warning message I always seem to get (though this time I feel it is important) and a screen shot of how the loft looks once imported.

The link (http://www.wikihow.com/Create-a-Freeform-Roof-in-Revit)was very helpful for examining the process to turn a 3d dwg into a Revit mass (roof). I am still grinding through this one and still running into errors and problems. Now I am getting a direct crash after the imported sat file is placed into a mass in a blank 9.1 project. I'd love to hear if I am still doing something wrong on this one.

Went back to try again by importing the dwg into a mass. Got the old warning message about the mesh information, same as before. So I am back to square one. I can import the geometry, but it comes in missing some information and probably cannot be converted to a roof...

Any other ideas? I am willing to try pretty much anything.
