I am working on an apartment building which will have interiors manufactured off-site. There will be different interiors options to choose from. I would like to construct these interiors separately from the base building and insert them as needed. How would I do this? Should I build them as families, or as projects to be linked into the base building? It would be good to have little drawing packages to give to the interiors manufacturer for each option, with schedules and all. The base building would have its own separate schedules. I also want to develop marketing graphics from these interior models, so I would build them fairly carefully. If they were separate projects, the base building file would be cleaner and not so bogged down.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

I would go with the seperate project files, linking is quite powerful in version 9, you may want to review the help/whats new docs. You can link specific views into specific views (nice feature). Seperate models should also allow you to easily generate your seperate doc packages.

Good luck, and you're not that far north, though it does get cold up there ;), I've got family in the junction & Bolton. :)

Thanks for the answer, Robert. Sorry for the delay -- I've been out of town.

I've been experimenting with linking models. I do think that's the way to go. Do you work in a large office? I work on my own, so I have to figure all this stuff out myself..:?

I live out in Essex Center, but I used to live near Bolton, in Jonesville just off Rt 2.
