I have defined my alignment and I have sampled from a surface that I have created. When I attempt to create a profile I get the following message: "Error reading surf_head from .vrt file." I have never receive this error before. I had previously created several profiles within the drawing. I had to change the design and deleted an alignment and created a new alignment. When I tried to create a profile for the new alignment I got the error message. I now get that message when I try to create a profile for any alignment in my drawing, including profiles that have previously been created. Does anyone know what I need to do to fix the problem? Or avoid the problem in the future?

I don't have an answer to your problem, but you might consider mentioning the version and service pack level of C3D that you are running. Since C3D is ever changing, this info may help someone else provide a better answer....

Are you saying you have 06 with no service packs?

I have seen a similar error in LDT. It usually occurs when the .vrt file becomes corrupt. In LDT we would just delete the file and re-sample. Not sure how that translates into C3D though.

Might be a good idea to audit your drawing. Just good practice.
Maybe try recreating your alignment and see if the problem is object specific. If that doesn't work try replicating the problem in another drawing to see if your error drawing specific. With an odd error like this you need to break it down to find where the error is coming from. Then diagnose it.
