Shorten or lengthen a wall - what am I missing

Okay,
I want to shorten a wall by 6'4", or lengthen it by 1'2"
Sometimes when I click on the "end drag point" and drag I get dimesions, but most of the time I don't.

This should be real easy to do and I'm assuming I just can't figure out the trick.
What is it?

Tab once or twice on the end of the line and you'll get the end line of the wall. Then just use the move command with precision input.

ohhh neat trick, I never moved the end of a wall that way before. Learn something new about Revit every day :D

When you use this method, you don't even need to click in the precision input box on the Options Bar. You can just type the dimension once you start to move in the appropriate direction.
