Can't you just pull the columns around like in an Excel Spreadsheet? I think you can...

You'll have to use the blue grips and drag each column individually.
Unfortunately, there's not way to specify Column 1 = 1.25", Column 2 = 0.75", Column 3 = 0.5"
You have to drag each one visually. I usually draw some Detail lines (down, over, up, over, down, over.up...) When I need the columns to be a specific size. Then erase the Detail lines.
Once you've got a schedule laid out the way you like it, save it somewhere (like in your Template). On the next Project, you can use Insert from File...View... and bring in the Schedule from your Template. The Schedule properties (Fields, Filter, Format...) as well as the Column widths will transfer to your new project.
P.S.
If you save the Schedule to your Template, you'll have to change the file types from *.rvt to *.* to see the template files.
P.P.S.
Why is that? Why not default Insert from File to *.rvt;*.rte? Isn't stuff more likely to be in the Template than another project?

Okay All,
This is an old post, but it comes the closest to what I'm looking for. I have an equipment schedule that I have to break across 4 plot sheets, because of the number of items being scheduled. I would like to standardize the Column Widths of these schedules across the several different views. I started by creating one schedule and adjusting the column widths, prior to duplicating and filtering. But we have been asked to add a few additional columns to the schedule, which now needs to be adjusted four times. Anybody have a suggestion for me? Maybe there is a third party tool out there that can help? API???
Thank you in advance,
Jeff S.

If you upgrade to 2014 you can set the size of column width now. I usually just delete all but one, tweak and repeat the duplicating process. I've also seen people use an annotation family that defines the size of a schedule, each column and then drag the grips over the lines of the symbol..."eyeball" it.

I don't see a need to hunt for an API add-in for this task (only four Schedules). I would first fix the Schedule Views by adding/removing whatever fields are needed. Adjust the column widths of the first Schedule Graphics as desired. Then, I would go to the next Sheet, attach the first Schedule to it, overlaid on top of the one on this Sheet, adjust the columns to match, then remove the first Schedule. Rinse and repeat.
I hope that will suffice, 'cause that's about all I have to offer, in this case!

Thanks Steve,
With about a month left on this phase of our project, I don't see us upgrading the entire team. I did just as you suggested, delete all but one, adjust columns & then duplicated. Maybe in the next phase of the project when we get the full list of required parameters, we'll be in 2014.
CADastrophe,
The regeneration of the schedule with every little adjustment would have taken forever, and in the end it was much faster to do as Steve suggested.
thanks all,
Jeff S.

Steve's solution is the better route, all-in-all, in light of the regen problem - it's likely the quickest method. In regard to specifying the column width (Revit 2014), I think even that could be a tedious task to compare and enter the values while flipping back and forth through the Schedule Views.

Altering sorting or filtering (and/or Uncheck itemize every instance) criteria temporarily so nothing shows up is another sneaky way to avoid some of the regeneration time.
