I wish...
...the Detail Component Manager window would stay open.
When you are doing a whole sheet of details, it becomes cumbersome to have to go back and open the window again to pick the next piece of detailing you need. It would be very helpful if the window stayed open in the background, similar to the Content Browser window.

This would be a nice idea, there is a similar wish item to have the help as a palette to stay open rather than switching windows.
In the mean time of course you can put individual detail componants onto tool palettes and insert them that way.

I think it'd be real cool if they could make it act like the rest of the pallets in ADT. I love the AutoHide function.

This could be useful, however you could easily set up some pallettes to have all of your most commonly used items, and it would funtion very similarly (much like the OOTB detail pallettes)
I also tend to use "add selected" a lot to get me to the general area of what I am drawing. For example, once I have a beam drawn, I will use it to add other beam, thus I don't have to go back into the manager.
All that said, it still could be a useful feature.

Good idea, I never thought about add selected with the details.

I could have sworn 2007 did this, but I guess not. Must have been a dream. My vote has been cast.
To add to this, it could work similarly to the xref palette in 2007. If they can build browsing capabilities into a palette, then that is what would be needed for the DCM.
