I must be doing something wrong. I have a project that I have just split up into three separate files. I then linked the files into a main file. However, in the main file, the Room Tags, text, and all other tags are not visible. I checked to see if the separate files that I linked in have them on, and I do. This is the first time I have tried splitting the file up, and I did a search in the forum for help but didn't find one. (maybe i just didn't look hard enough). How do I control the visibility in the link files in the main one. Also, the main file does not show the "views" that have already been created in the linked file on the project browser, no worksets either, and level lines are a bit of a mess. Any links to steps on the proper way to split files and link them together would be much appreciated.

**update

I found some threads concerning this and all have mentioned that you are able to control the visibility of the files linked, but doesn't elaborate on how to do so. when i go to VG and to the Revit linked file tab it doesn't give me any option to turn off/on items. Still missing something.

In V/G, under Revit Links, you can control visibility by clicking on the button under Display Settings for the link you want to change. For plan views, you'll have the option to set it "By Linked View", and this is how you can get your room tags to show up. Find the plan view in the linked file that you want in the list and select it. Repeat for all other linked files. For othr viewe, such as sections and elevations, you will not have the "By Linked View" option, but you can set them to match your host view or set to custom (these are also available for plan views).
