Hy, I wanted to create a continuous foundation using a rectangular beam family and I thought I knew how, but I was wrong:
I thought I would just have to switch the height parameter from type to instance so I could be able to align/lock the bottom of the foundation beams to a level. But here I hit a problem I saw the very first time I opened the family editor: I don't understand the beam family: although the level is at the middle of the blend/extrusion in the family, the beam is placed exactly under the level in a project (with a -h/2 eccentricity so to speak) - I can't figure out why/how this happens. So when I tried to use the beams modified as above in my project, and tried to align their bottom, their top went up.
Could someone give me a clue on this? At least regarding to the position of the level in the beam family - If I understand that I guess I'll figure the rest out.
