I'm sure this question has been asked before.....but I have a large plan, which I can't get on one sheet. I duplicate the plan twice, left handside & right handside of the building. I then use the crop region to pullback the view ,to just the area I want. However, I'd like to see the overall dimensions for the building to appear in each view cropped view, but as I pull back the crop region the overall dimensions disappear. Is their a way to control this? Thanks in advance.

Hey,

Try splitting the crop region. You will have to figure out how to position those on sheets, i.e., duplicate view, place on side on one sheet, the other on a the other, the other split side will probably have to be off in space some where in your sheet view, but you'll have to check it out.

But you can dimension your building, then split the region and the dim. will stay there reading the correct dimension, you can then move the dim text where it will work best in your vew. You may have to place two dims on top of each other so you can have the text in each split side.....but reading your thread, this is what I came up with. Hope it helps.

I need help in this area too. Splitting the crop region won't help for us. We have done the same as davidwlight with the same result. We need to be able to show the overall dimension on both of the plans. The attached is the layout we have on our sheet and would like to run a dimension on the long part of the building. Is it possible to do? if not, is there a work around for it? The reason splitting the crop region won't help is that you can only move the crop region in one direction. Meaning if I split the crop region along the long side, i can only move the crops up or down, not left or right (which I would like to do). any help is much appreciated.

Is this what you are looking for? I still used the split crop region method, but I just duplicated the view, and split it's crop region to view the other end of the building. I placed the dimension before splitting the region. The image you attached does not show the other end of the building the dimension is going to and I tried that, but then you will have a dimension line flying off of your page that you can't hide, that's why I brought the other end of the building back to where I split it from so you see the end of the dimension line, therefore you must see the end of the building. This would work though as long as I am understanding your request.

Okay, that does work. However, is there a way to change one side of the dimension mark to another symbol? say like an arrow to show continuation?

Hi.
At the moment Revit does not allow for changing the tick mark (arrow head, etc) to be different on one side of the dimension vs. the other. You could just put a symbol over the end you want to show as an arrow. I realize this is a work around, but hopefully in the next version there will be more options.
Best regards,

I believe you only have the option to change the tick mark symbol for both sides, not individual sides.
