We have upgraded to 2005, and I have lost my ability to bring up the OSNAP menu with a single click of my wheel button. I know I can bring it up with ctrl+right button, but I would rather use the middle button.

Using an intellimouse optical usb, 5 buttons. It is configured as the system device in ACAD.

I'm not sure about using a 5button mouse, but, what is your mbuttonpan variable set to?

Hi

Haven't got AutoCAD 2005 or a 5 button mouse (you lucky thing ;-)), but give the following Technical Document on the Autodesk web site under the Knowledge Base section a try -

ID: TP00040 - Side Button Mouse Customization for the OSNAP Menu (http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=2490728&linkID=2475176)

ID: TS71373 - Set mouse thumb button to open object snap menu (http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/item?siteID=123112&id=2888767&linkID=2475323)

ID: TS69028 - Activate object snap menu from Microsoft® IntelliMouse® Explorer mouse (http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/item?siteID=123112&id=2865471&linkID=2475323)

Hopefully one of the above will point you in the right direction....

Have a good one, Mike

Well gang:
It seems the problem is with my specific mouse, or maybe the driver. Other folks in the office have wheel mice which operate off the generic Windows drivers. There is no way of setting the wheel button, and the system seems to interpret the wheel click as a generic middle button click. When the ACAD variable MBUTTONPAN is set to "0", their ACAD responds with the OSNAP menu.

I have a 5-button Intellimouse, and the loaded driver responds with all sorts of possible assignments for any of the buttons. Except "default". Aye, there's the rub. Can't program it to do function keys either. I'm going to feed this mother to my cat.

So, for those who have asked, try the following:
Go into the Mouse folder in the Windows Control Panel, and make sure that your wheel button is set to the system default. If there is nothing to change on the wheel button, then you should be OK. Then go into ACAD and set the MBUTTONPAN variable to "0"

Mea Culpa, Bill Gates:

I found the solution! Set the middle button to "Autoscroll" in the Windows mouse dialogue. This applies only to the Microsoft Intellimouse.

If you are using the logitech you can just program it to Ctrl+Shift
