Calibrating a HP Deskjet 9800

If I calibrate my printer to a 12 x 18 paper size the calibration gets thrown off on the 8.5 x 11 paper size. I don't seem to be able to calibrate both paper sizes without throwing one or the other out of wack. Please help!
