How do we create sheets to be sorted by volume so that they can be sorted by sheet and views in the project browser and plotted?

Thanks,
David

You'll need to create a new Project Parameter for Drawing Sheets so that you can Filter or Sort by it.

OK but how to go about adding a parameter for sorting by Volume?

Thanks,
David

sorry but i am not sure what you mean by volume.

These are for sheets that have to be issued by volume A B C and bound separately. We want the browser organization to be configured so that the project browser can allow users to sort and show them in a manner that speeds efficiency in showing by all, discipline, that way and plot them that way.

The firm intends to standardize the view and sheet naming to take advantage of sorting capabilities of the Project Browser to get a handle on the large amount of views and sheets generated on a project.

David

just create as many project parameters as you need (in terms of depth of sorting) and keep applying them to your sorting.

See attached.

No issues with this process by Disipline, it's sorting by volume I am trying to figure out.

Since I have been told enough time that a picture is worth a thousand words....

Let's see if this help.

make a project parameter that is called Volume and sort, or filter by that parameter. similar to what i had shown above, but instead instead of going sheet discipline first, use volumne, then discipline, then number.

you would have to assign the volumn parameter to each sheet otherwise it wont work.

If the project has sheet divisions for up to 3 volumes I would create three titleblocks.rfa's of which a volume parameter will be 1, 2, and 3 or A, B, and C in each one and then create my sheets in the project?

What is the procedure to create a Volume Parameter? : )

i hope that i am not missing something, but what i did was create a project paramater called Volume, that is associated to Drawing sheets. then applied sorting to the sheets, going by volume, discipline, then number.

Have a look at the attached file and tell me if this is what you intended.

With the exception of the ???? at the top.... precisely.

I can see the setting placed in the Project Parameters, but how will the sheets then defined as Volume A, B and so forth?

David

yeah i just did at the volume data to those sheets. but once you go to the properties and set it, they will all fall into organization.

Alrighty Mr. Yoda, It might be in my face and I can't see it despite the example. But how will I get the individual sheets to sort by volume after setting it up under the project organozer and making a

Bet it is real simple.

right click on the sheet and go to properties. at the bottom select the appropriate volume, and it will magically move under the right volume.

May the force be with you
