Text editor-making drafting/model pattern

I just looked at how to make a pattern. I can see how to write it out but no idea how to make it from a text file into something we can use. Could someone make a quick pattern for me called 12" Log Veneer? I am trying to make horizontal lines that start say at 0",2" and 14". Then start the pattern all over. I think this is how it is to be written. Please help...... I found one at Revitcity, but unable to download it.
