When changing the Fill color option in the Modify Dimension Styles dialog box, what determines the size of the background mask and can it be altered?

No, it cannot be altared when using the background mask in dimensions...

However, using the TEXTMASK command for text, it can be; but, of course, that doesn't work with dimensions
