Good day,
The buttons such as SNAP, GRID, COORDINATES, etc. in the tray are rarely used. Some of the tray buttons are shifted so far you can see them even on my 21 inch monitor.
QUESTION
How and where (which variable) do I permanently :banghead: set so that only the tray setting's 'buttons' that I desire are displayed each time AutoCAD is opened?
Thanks,
BrenBren

Hi Clint,
Right click on your tray. Uncheck the ones you don't want shown. These will stay when you restart AutoCAD, I don't know what variables they are, but I am sure someone does ;)

Hi
Note, Brenda's response is only true if you're using an AutoCAD 2004 product or above.
If using a lower AutoCAD product I'm afraid you're stuck with all the buttons.
Have a good one, Mike

According to the reply from Autodesk's Subscription Technical Support:
Case Title :Tray Settings - How to Permanently Set the Tray's Buttons such as Snap, etc. Issue details/Steps to reproduce :*** Notes Created On 22/JUN/2004 14:06:36 Logged By: Sudhir N
Dear Clinton Hill:
The Status Bar Menu settings are based on the profile. You can define the desired set of buttons required in the “Vanilla” profile (Tools -> Options -> Profiles), as this profile is being loaded by default every time when you launch the application.
There we have it!

I have an antique 2000 version of AutoCAD and I am unable to find the command that toggles the tray settings visibility below the command line. I am also new to AUGI and unsure if this is the proper place to ask about this. Pls adv.

As far as I know ( which means nothing ), there is no setting in AutoCAD 2000 that enables you to control the display of the buttons you see on the Status Bar menu...

I am currently using 2000 and have the tray visible. However, when I install the exact same software on another computer, the tray is not visible. Any other places or people that might know?

Is the AutoCAD Command Line visible on the computer running AutoCAD 2000 that is not showing the Status Bar menu ?
If no, take a look here...

AutoCAD
Title bar, menus, and status bar are missing from the screen
Published date: 1999-03-19
ID: TS17635
Applies to:
AutoCAD® 2000
Issue
The most likely cause for the title bar, menus, and status bar to disappear is because the Bonus utility, FULLSCREEN, has been used. FULLSCREEN (Full Screen AutoCAD) enlarges the AutoCAD drawing area by removing these items from the screen.
Solution
To reset the screen back to the default, go to the Express menu > Tools > Full Screen AutoCAD. To turn on the Full Screen mode, select 'Full Screen AutoCAD' again.
Note: The menus at the top of the screen and the status line at the bottom of the screen are hidden. If you move your cursor to the top of the screen, the pointer will change to a square icon. If you make a selection while the icon is active, you will have access to the menu.
IF your problem IS Fullscreen mode - which I doubt - just typing FULLSCREEN is a much simpler way to get out of it.

The command line is still visible, as well as any other menu I wish to call up. I can dock and float them all. The tray visibility on my own computer is fine, but with a new install to another computer, there is where I have the problem. I do know about full screen mode and this is not the issue here. Oh well, there are a dozen other ways to access these options other than the tray, so what the heck. Small but annoying problem. Thank you all for your ideas and help.

I am using AutoCad Map 3D 2007 version, i am trying to display the tray setting such as snap, lineweight, grid, etc. In AutoCad Map 3D 2007, i have to click on tools, which replaced all the icon tabs. How do we bring the icon tabs in 2007.

I hope I am understanding you correctly. There should be a little black triangle in the lower right corner of your Autocad window. Click on that, and select the items you want to show.
Post back if that's not it.

Yes there is black triangle in the lower right corner and its the tray settings. But i can't display icon tabs. In earlier versions, they displayed all the tabs, now you have tools tab, then you click on that and popup window is displayed with all the tabs.
I'm sorry, I don't know what you mean by "Icon Tabs". :(
What I thought, from your previous post, was the buttons at the bottom (see attached image).
Maybe Layout Tabs? If so, Options/Display Tab/Layout Elements and check the box next to "Display Layout and Model Tabs".
A picture (screen capture) is worth a thousand words.

What version of Autocad is this? THose tabs that you have boxed, in Autocad 2007 its all in a single tab called tools, where you have to click on it and access each one separately.
