Anyone having problems with importing a topo dwg file in 9.1?
I have an exercise that I use for a class and now that I have updated to 9.1 I cannot get it to select and Imported instance of a topo dwg file.
Any ideas?

There is a known issue. You can't create from a dwg imported current view only. Just relink and don't check current view only.

It worked in 9.0 - why would they break it?

It was most probably something they skipped or forgot about. I'm sure the factory has a lot of things on their minds so something this small could slip through the testing phase.

We removed such option of using dwg imported as 'view only' because it caused confusion. Some users complained that result is not at the level of the view as they expected (when z in the file was not real z).

In a way this makes more intuitive sense to me. The topo is a modeled thing, and I guess I intuit a DWG import to all views as being "modeled" while a DWG imported to a single view I intuit as more of a 2D underlay. Then again it would be nice to have the topo underlay only show up in the Site view.

Did you know that on page 42 of the AOTC Advanced Revit 9 book that is has you import a DWG surface and they show you to use Current view only?

This is an oops when it comes to using the Revit 9 material for 9.1 now.

Thanks for the heads up on this issue...I've taught two Revit Level 2 classes in the past month and was unable to select the imported drawing in either class. Thought it was kinda funny behaviour at the time...

Thanks!
