View Full Version : No solid surface pattern shown on curved geometry?

I modelled some HVAC ducts to show in my ceiling plan, some of which are curved. I created a material with a solid gray surface fill pattern to help the ducts read better on the plan. When I set the ducts to that material, it worked great except on the curved portions of the duct. It's a solid sweep with straight and curved paths, and the profile is a circle. Any remedy here?

Nope. If the object curves in more than one axis, no hatch. Makes sense when you think about, though it's still too bad.

Well I understand the line patterned hatches not working, but I would have figured the Solid color hatch would have worked.
The curved surfaces have a solid color when viewed in a shaded view. I would just like my mechanical ducts to have a gray color when viewing it in hidden line.
Any other work around you can think of?

If they are families you could add a detail component of a filled region to the curved pieces. If you have a lot of duct work you may want to do this for all of them and turn the 3d geometry off.
