So, how do I show the elevator pit ?
If I try to extend the elevator shaft down throught he site, it gives a message saying " can't cut host for inserted object"

You will need a pad at the bottom of your shaft, reprenting the slab on grade.

You currently are not showing anything for a slab below the shaft. You will need a slab to cut the shaft.

There is a pad, and I have cut a hole through the pad, but it doesn't extend into the site !

You can't nest pads (but you should be able to!), but you can create three pads. Do "C" and mirrored "C" shapes to define the main pad, then one more in the middle, offset down, for th elevator shaft. kind of like the old "nested xclips" you had to do in AutoCAD.

You can define a hole in a pad. So all you need is donut, and then the pad for the bottom of the shaft set to the depth of the shaft.

Aha! Nested profiles in the first pad! Robert, you are my professor for the day. And a reminder to fall back on AutoCAD approaches as a very last resort!
