ABS 2006 SP 2
Can anyone help please?
Please see the attached image.
I am having problems with inconsistant haloed line display when ducts pass over each other. One side of the duct does not halo at all the other side 'haloes' but carries on after it has passed under the higher duct.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in Advance,
stelthorst

Hi Mark,
First, Welcome to AUGI.
I'm sure your problem is in the display representation. Is there anyway you can post a drawing with the problem so that I can tear it apart and try to figure out what's going on?

Hi Stelthorst,
Thanks for the welcome.
I've attached the dwg file for you to have a look.
When working in the model i usually use the 'work' display rep, with
halo lines switched off to speed things up, then change to ABS Floor 2 line to review display, although I've noticed some haloed lines remain displayed in the 'work' display rep?
Hope this helps,
Regards,
Mark Barnett.

Hi Mark,
I could not find anything out of the ordinary in your display configurations. I created some new configurations that I knew should work but was still unable to get your drawing to display correctly.
Now for the good news. I was able to copy and paste your drawing into a new drawing and everything seems to be working fine now. (see attached). This leads me to believe your current drawing may be corrupted. Try starting a new drawing and pasting everything in your current drawing into the new drawing and see what happens.
It bugs me I can't figure out what is going on and I may play with it some more but in the mean time you may try my suggestion above.
Hope this helps,
Oh yeah, I'm using ABS2007.1 so you may have trouble viewing the drawing I created. (Even though I saved it back to ABS2004 format.

Hi Scott,
Thanks for having a look at the dwg. file. I noticed in the file you posted the ductwork is closer to WCS 0,0,0
If the original model i posted is moved close to WCS 0,0,0 the halo lines display properly!
Tried this with other files that have this problem (including pipework models) and it worked
This however, seems an extreme solution.
Setting a UCS close to the model has no effect either
Could the models extreme distance from 0,0,0 have an affect on ABS haloing?.
Do you get the same result?

Hi Mark,
Good call, You're right, it seems haloed lines are effected by their proximity to the 0,0 of the WCS.
I looked on the Autodesk web site but could find no reference to this being a glitch in the program. However, I'm not as good at searching the forums and Autodesk web sites as others (Mike Perry are you out there?)
I agree with you, you shouldn't have to adjust your drawing closer to the 0,0 of the WCS just to get it to work. I'm assuming the distance from the 0,0 on your drawing reflects a surveyed location of the building.
Unfortunately I don't know of a work-around at this point.
Sorry I couldn't be more help.
