View Full Version : Storefront just as a frame?

I have a situation where I have a bunch of storefront, and one window that is made of the storefront components, but has no intermediate mullions. Is there a way to do this with the storefront, or do I have to make a separate window family? And if so, is there an argument for not having 0 mullions as an option? It seems to me this should be a wishlist item, as you can certainly (in the real world) build a storefront with just the frame elements and a single glazing panel.

Thanks,
Gordon

Of course. It soulds like you are using the Revit supplied storefront. This has mullion spacing rules. You need a type which either has different rules or no rules....

Gordon, I agree with you, even though building a storefront type without mullions is possible*, the option to set the number to "0" would much simpler and make a lot of sense. I even think that instead of setting the number of mullions it would be more appropriate to the architects mindset to set the number of panels (therefore starting at "1" obviously.) But i guess the programmers must have had some reason to do it this way, maybe they'll let us know.

Greetings, Michael

*if you don't find a storefront type with no mullions, create a new one and set the parameter "Horizontal Grid Pattern - Layout" to "None".

Schwiiiiing! I knew there had to be a better answer than creating a separate window family. Back to the manual for the week-end.

We don't even use window families for our work.....I love curtain walls.

Yeah mostly I just use the curtain wall type because mullion spacings are never the same on our jobs. The only storefront type I use is one I have set up for glass blocks, with mullions set to 8" x 8" spacing and 4" thick with special glass block joint mullion profiles.
