I HAVE THIS 21' WIDE PORTION OF THE HOUSE IN WHICH I HAVE 3 SEPERATING WALL INTERSECTIONS I AM TRYING TO DIMENSION. AS DESCRIBED IN THE ATTACHED PDF, THEY SHOULD TOTAL UP TO THIS 21', BUT INSTEAD, THE FURTHEST TO THE RIGHT IS 1/16" LESS, SO 6'-7 7/16". IS SHOWS 6'-7 1/2 BECAUSE I'VE DRAWN A DETAIL LINE BY THE 45 DEG. INTERSECTION TO FAKE IT IN THERE, BUT WHY WOULD IT BE COMING OUT WITH THAT DIFFERENCE. I MADE SURE THE DIMS ARE REFERENCED TO THE PROPER CORE BOUNDARY ON THE OUTSIDE WALLS AND THAT IT IS REFERENCED TO THE CORE INTERSECTION AT THE 45DEG WALLS??

Change formating of your dimensions to more precision and examine the values. Then you may see the answer to your question.

I'm thinking the dim is correct and the wall is not exactly intersecting where you want. A real quick work around would be to edit the dim properties and duplicate a new dimension type and set the tollerances as needed under the "Units Format" parameter - "Rounding".

If you want the wall to be precision you could set and pin a line or plane and align the end of the wall with that.

i think that the wall is not atached rightly the way it should have been. if you are not able to figure out the mistake and still want to maintain the precision of the units, then, dupicate the dimensions and make the text to be of very minimal size so that its not visible or make it of the screen colour and retype the dimension text to what it should be as text...

Use reference plane to make sure your wall location line intersects exactly where you want it.

I had to go over and over this at the last firm I was at. The dimensions are wrong because it is drawn wrong. Yes, dimensions are being rounded up and down - but in the end - one of them is wrong. I'll bet that it isn't a nice neat 1/16" of an inch either. Probably some odd 45/256" or somethings.

Since staff seem to have a tough time drawing with accuracy - I use two dimension styles in my projects. "Standard" rounds to the 1/8". "Exact" does no rounding and displays on the screen in red. Users can design with the "Exact" style and then while doing QA/QC they are switched to "Standard", and locked if needed.

I like that last suggestion about having a new dim style that is more exact. That's a good idea, then you know you're right from the start. As far as I was concerned, everything was right. I always place walls, active temp. dims and typet the exact measurement I want it to be, so I didnt' think there was any room for sloppy drafting, but I guess with this example, there is a possibility that those little leftovers could have those odd differences that causes the rounding to occur in a direction you don't want it to, hence, I guess I need a little more accuracy. Thanks a lot for all the suggestions, I definitly have enough to take care of it. Thanks again!!
