View Full Version : Is there a Revit 3d Viewer?
I am looking for a way to send a 3d Revit model out to be viewed by the client in an active shaded 3d viewer. Is there such an animal?

not that I am aware of, I had a client who downloaded revit and was able to view his project
in demo mode. he found it fairly simple to use, that is one option.

Autodesk has a new press release about the new DWF writer having 3D capabilities. If the DWF writer for Revit allows 3D DWFs to be created, then I would assume DWFs will become the way we share 3D models without others beeding to download the whole Revit program to use as a viewer.
Click here for the press release (http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/item?siteID=123112&id=4424975&linkID=1977925)

wow, that sounds pretty cool. Can't wait to see what it looks like! I would hope they would allow 3d dwf's from Revit. Certainly they would at least soon, if not at first release...

Another option for you may be to look at a product called ' Navisworks'
This is a very good 3d model viewer but quite expensive
Its marketed on the basis of checking co-ordination of many 3d Cad file formats (dwg dgn etc)
It currently does not support direct RVT file but will take in 3d dwg files from Revit
You need to purchase a 'publisher' version to create the Navis file but there is a 'free' viewer available for your clients.
May be worth a look ?
