I was playing today with using ceilings to create a continuous shelf soffit around a room. I can create a ceiling with gyp on top and bottom, and there are Wrap check boxes, but they are not active. Is this just not an option in ceilings? In which case 1: why even have the unusable wrap check boxes there? And 2: why is this not an option?
It seems to me that I should be able to create a ceiling with material top and bottom, tell the bottom material to wrap, just like a wall; then put a donut ceiling in a room, and in section see the appropriate material wrap the face in the "hole" and also see the finish materials clean up at the wall. I can see using this not just with gyp all around for a soffit, but with sheet metal on top as a light shelf, etc. I would still need to put a separate component on the face if I was doing a 2X6 wood fascia on the soffit for example, but I can deal with that. But a simple gyp wrapped soffit should be easier I think. Or am I missing a better way?
