Wall Reveals

Our firm template file has no loaded wall reveals at the moment.

I just started a new project and need to load a wall reveal profile. I've loaded the profile into the project already. However, the help info says I should select the wall reveal tool. Once active I should be able to select a profile from the drop-down menu. Of course, if no profiles are loaded the wall reveal tool won't become active, so at the moment I can't seem to create any reveals.

what you need to do is to change the profile in the instance parameters dialogue box(in properties/ edit new dialogue box)
for this duplicate the existing reveal profile and name it to your convenience..
for every next use, you will get it from the type selector.

Perhaps I didn't explain this well. I can't get to the dialog box because there are no reveal profiles in the project. The tool is greyed out. In the modeling tab, I can't select it. I know how to add new ones with the steps you mentioned, but if there are no reveal profiles to "duplicate" or even allow the tool to function, what do I do?

So, to solve the problem I did two things...

First I loaded from library in the File Menu - don't know why I didn't think about that one, and then I got out of plan view. That last was the real doozy. Now, personally, I'd like to place wall reveals in Plan view sometimes, but Revit stubbornly refuses by graying out the blinking tools on me. Sensible enough since Revit can't place reveals in plan.
