I have spent a great deal of time and effort trying to perfect this process.

I have made a dwt for our group to use. I started with acadiso.dwt and then made it unitless. I have a bunch of blocks of titleblocks for every client we have inserted into a unitless Design Center drawing. These titleblocks were all a1 metric, metric units. Then they were dragged onto a tool palette. They are dragged onto new drawings created with this unitless template. They used to come in perfectly fin when I tested on my workstation.

Then I noticed when I ran the test on a different workstation, the titleblocks were coming in too small, so I modified the tool palette to scale by 25.4. That seemed to work fine.

Now today I test in a third workstation and the silly blocks did not come in at all.

Does anyone know what the deal is here? What are the rules for when to use unitless?

Have you made sure that all the units, ie. Decimal, Architectural, Engineering..., are all the same. That would be the first and simplest thing to look at. I would then make sure that all the workstations are set up the same way. Hope that helps some.

If the titleblocks all appear the size in the Design Center drawing can't I assume that the units are all correctly set to metric?

All workstations are accessing the same template.

Thanks for responding. Nice to have company, regardless.

They all may be set to metric, but if one is Architectural, and the base dwt is or was Decimal, it will make it smaller or larger. However it is setup. The metric, inches, millimeter... won't make a difference. Have you tried doing a zoom extents when you insert the titleblock into the dwg to see if it is even there?

Always nice to chat with someone.

Hi

You may wish to browse / review some of the information found in the following thread...

Blocks, Images or Xrefs not inserting correctly?

Have a good one, Mike

Try this:
Format - Units

Thanks to all!

I can indeed confirm that the problem is the INSUNITS setvar in the titleblock drawings themselves. When inserted into the same unitless drawing, they all come in the same size because they are all 864 x 559, or thereabouts (metric a1). So I assumed all was well!

The problem is inside each drawing, some are set to millimeters, some are set to inches, some are unitless and the length types (arch, decimal, etc) are not consistant either.

So the problem only shows up when you try to put them in a drawing.

Now its time to go back to my boss and explain there is more work to do here when clients send us their titleblocks!
