my program hangs whenever I try to import a 714kb 3d dwg file into revit bldg 8.1. why is this happenning?

Are you importing this model into a drafting view? Also, which program is creating the DWG file (AutoCAD, ADT, etc)?

Is your dwg file a site plan?
I Import dwg files in quite frequently, but only floor plans and elevations to work from.
could you be more specific about what it is your trying to import.

I always purge my dwg files before I import them to Revit. I also make sure that everything it set to 1 layer so that revit doesn't need to create more information.

the dwg was made from an earlier version of autocad.

could you be more specific about what it is your trying to import.

Its a 3d model of a furniture. i had no problems when importing 2d.

that's what i did in the dwg file before i imported it, but still the program hangs....
