Just gotta go with the format the file requires. Best to edit with Excel and save as tab-delimited text. Here is a sample:

1000 Floor Plans
2000 Ceiling
3000 Sections
4000 Site
5000 Roof
6000 Misc
7000 Interior
8000 Structural
1001 ELECTRIC METER. SEE ELEC. 1000
1002 U.G. ELECTRICAL SERVICE TO EXISTING POWER POLE. SEE ELECTRICAL. 1000
1003 "1-1/2"" SCHD 80 PVC CONDUIT TO DOCK FOR U.G. POWER TO SERVE 50 AMP DOCK BOX BY OWNER. SEE ELECTRICAL." 1000
1004 HVAC OUTSIDE UNIT. SEE MECH. 1000
1005 220 V DISCONNECT FOR HVAC OUTSIDE UNIT. SEE ELECTRICAL. 1000
1006 WALL BREAKAWAY. SEE CODE 1000
1007 "1-1/2"" SCHED 80 PVC WATER SERVICE w/ 1-1/2"" CUT-OFF IN U.G. BOX. SEE PLUMBING. " 1000

I concur. Opening it up in Excel makes editing this file a whole lot easier. Plus it makes much more sense. I would have Revit, Excel and Notepad open. Make a change and see how Revit responds. Once you get the format down, all you need to do to update your file is add the change in Excel and save it out again as a .txt file.
Good luck!

A little off-subject; I'm interested in the example from Truevis. Has that method of keynotes by-plan-type been successful for you? Are there duplicate notes for plans and sections for the same object?

Best regards,

I did exactly this and my keynotes didn't update.
What next should i do?

Thanks

You'll have to reload it again- it is a bit of a pain that it doesn't automatically refresh itself
