Base plates possibly built right into the column with the option of showing a modeled base plate, top plate and their respective thicknesses in the properties.

If you find you need this often you can create a family that you can nest into your column families. Not sure what would be required in terms of using it for analysis but you could schedule all the parameters and have the plate appear in your model
