View Full Version : dim extension lines on room elevations

When we have an interior wall elevation and want to dimension something on the wall, we often drag the dimension line outside of the elevation. The scope box cuts off the extension lines and it looks odd. See attached pdf and let me know if there is a way to fix this (we always like a bit of space between the end of the extension line and the reference point).
As well, the scope box cuts off the edges of our walls or ceilings sometimes, but not all the time. See the pdf and note that the ceiling line is missing, even though I can see it clearly on the sheet and screen.

I am having the exact same problem with my extension lines. If anyone knows why this is happening I'd love to hear from them!

Not sure which dimension string you were objecting to.
Sounds like you are dimensioning something else, other than what you intended? If the witness line isn't close to the object you thought you were dimensioning then try using the tab key to cycle through other possible references.
The offset from an object is defined by the dimension style. Check the settings to make sure it is still correct.

Hi Steve,
Please refer to the attachment. I get no gap to element with my extension lines even though my dimension style is set up correctly.
There are also no grips available for me to drag the extension line away from the element manually.
This is a section view if that makes any difference.
EDIT: I have just discovered that if I drag the entire dimension string to the opposite side of the object my dimensions display correctly. It is something to do with the view clipping by the looks of it. Refer second attachment.

I used to get this all the time in 9.1 but after using it in 2008 it seems to be ok. 2008 does have the dashed green lines for the annotation crop region - I wonder if it has something to do with that?
