Is there a way to change slab that was drawn as a non-structural element to a structural one? when i go into the properties i tried to check the box to make that slab (drawn as a floor) a structural one but Revit won't allow me to. Do I have to redraw the floor as a structural slab and delete the old one?
**update: i tried making a structural slab using the structural design bar, but it still would not let me check the structural box.

one way (if it is possible) is that you can edit the floor slab and select all the lines. then create a new floor and in the edit mode paste the lines from the previous floor. Works well in all kinds of situations (ie filled regions, extrusions, etc), anywhere where you might need to duplicate a set of lines, or convert to something else.
To get back to the original question, i know that there are some part in RB that refer to RS (for example the steel deck profile in floors, RB wont let you add it, but still notes that it is there).
Not a great answer, but might get you going.

the reason why i would like the to change the slab to a structural slab is that when i attach a structural element (i.e. structural column or structural wall) to the floor and warning comes up telling me that i have attached a structural element to a non-structural element. I would like to avoid that warning message. How should/could I go about doing that?

i think that you are stuck with the warning. without using revit structure, i dont think you can make the floor structural from the start.
I might be wrong...
