Has anyone created a new layer key style or edited one in ADT 2004/5?

I like the AIA layers styles, but I've been attempting to create a new layer key style that doesn't use any of the AIA layers for a user. It seems very painful. Just wondered if anyone else has done this or had any better advice.

Thanks!

Matt Dillon's "Layer Standards, Key Styles, and Overrides De-Mystified" Brain Dump may be of some use to you. This was written for ADT2, so there may be a few things that are out of date, but for the most part the information is still relevant. You can get this by downloading Brain Dump No. 12 at http://home.earthlink.net/~ccyanchar/ .

Note: In Step 5, concerning the Edit Descriptive Fields tab - the purpose of this tab is to allow you to create Descriptive Fields that are composed of two or more Component Fields. The shipping AIA Standard at the time the Brain Dump was written did not make use of this feature, and had the one-to-one mapping of Component Fields and Descriptive Fields that Matt mentions. The version that ships with ADT2004 and 2005 contains a two-component Descriptive Field for the Discipline, which is what enables the ability to have each main Discipline to have the optional subdiscipline field with a unique description for each discipline.

Thanks for the info. I have several of Matt's braindumps and think they're great and have corresponded with him.

Just downloaded and will read now.

Thanks!
