I am a newbie andI have a question for anyone willing to help me. I have created a new fascia profile and I have applied it to a sloping roof edge (a rake). This is on a residential project. When the sweep gets tot he bottom of its path, it is cut on a vertical line. Is there any way to have this cut on another angle, such as horizontally?
Thanks,
Bill

You may have to create another family for the end condition that you are looking for and have your profile terminate at that. There is no setting that would let you do a quick way to cut a extruded profile on the fly, I believe.
I hope this helps.

Yes on rakes, there is an option to change it to vertical, horizontal, or perpendicular. You have to select modify first for it to show up. Then it says, change mitering option.

Now that I got the hang of trimming the roof fascias, i tried to apply a surface pattern on the top of this object. I used the wood shake pattern, but it was applies in reverse, witht he shingles pointing upslope. i tried selecting the pattern and rotating it, but it would not rotate. Is there a control I am missing?
Thanks, Bill

You will not see a control for rotating when selecting a surface pattern. The only way I have been able to rotate/adjust surface patterns is by drawing a drafting line, reference line, or reference plane and using to align tool to adhere to it. I believe you have to be in a view perpendicular to the surface with the pattern in order to be able to rotate it.

There was a thread recently about this very issue.....do a search over the last 2 or 3 weeks. There's some issue with the pattern itself.
