I am trying to export many plans from my Revit model to serve as a base for AutoCAD plans. I am having two problems. One upon export to CAD my wall hatch (solid), is not fully filling the walls. This occurs at wall joins of two different wall thicknesses. The hatch instead of turning the corner, connects diagonally to the far corner of the adjoining wall. Secondly, my walls are structural and thus drawn at full height of the building (multiple stories), despite setting my view range of my plans to the bottom of the floor level, Revit shows the walls as they project down (as they are angled), and thus is exporting these lines. They are actually exporting as a different layer (wall projection). Please help as I want to avoid editing numerous drawings (defeating the purpose of using Revit in the first place).

If you post some screenshots or part of your project that you're having problems with, it would help us figure out what's wrong.

Well it seems the Hatching issue has cleared up today, I suppose it must be hit or miss how a solid hatch will form while exporting to CAD. However, the projected wall problem I still have. Here is a screen shot showing how the wall is visible and thus exportable below the view range.

What are your view range settings? Is your view Depth set too high?

EDIT: Actually it makes no difference. I've even tried setting the view depth and bottom clip to be the same as the cut plane but the wall still shows below. I believe that behavior is built into Revit walls so you might have to resort to editing linework before you export.

Is there a way to get Revit to export associative hatching into autocad? (e.g. for wall flls)

It seems that whenever I try and export a bunch of drawings sheets at once to CAD, I get this message:

"Can't create <file name.dwg> or file is already in use. Please close the file and press OK."

I'm the only one in the file, and it gives me this message. Any help would be most appreciated- thank you!!

Try write the files to a different drive. Maybe you have a permission issue.

Kirsten,

I had the same problem and I think it is because the automatic file name set for the file you are trying to export is too many characters long. There is some limit to the number of characters windows will allow you to name a file and you are attempting to exceed that.
