I have a AutoCAD 2006 user that when he is in refedit, he is still able to move objects that are faded back. Does anyone know how this is possible? I am not able to do this and other users are in the same boat as myself.

Thank you for you help.

Interesting... he's not adding those objects to his selection set, is he?

That shouldn't matter - refedit automatically locks the objects that aren't in the block you are editing...

You shouldn't be able to select or manipulate any of those objects by design...

You had the keyword "shouldn't". This thing doesn't always work like it should.

Right, but you can't unlock or lock the layers that are faded... at least I can't...

Could it be an image is involved? If so, set the "imageframe" to 2.

Well, I just double checked his machine verse mine with the same drawing. No images are involved and no layers are locked, before or during refedit, for both machines.
But still he is able to manipulate the shaded and I am not.
When I try to, I get "1 was not in the working set." And when I do the exact same command on his machine, I don't receive the comment and I am able to complete the command.

Thank you for your help,

Just out of curiosity, and I'm not even sure if it matters, but are you using refedit on an XREF or a block?

It's an XREF.
