View Full Version : Change cutplane of a single object

I could have sworn this was possible. Basically I can change the cut plane on one wall to 9', so that it is shown cutting the high clerestory windows, but the rest of the plan is standard 7'-6" cut plane. But I can't find anything in the help files. Am I remembering an ADT function? And if so, is there a good way to do this in Revit? I am loath to actually change the cut plane height for the whole view, and a Plan Region for just a wall doesn't seem right either. Hopefully I am missing something obvious again.

Thanks,
Gordon

All I know of is a plan region....it's not too cumbersome to use. I use it all the time to show clerestory windows.

So you make a plan region around a single wall? I guess the positive side is I could make a plan region for a single high window in a wall of otherwise low windows. That would be pretty cool. One thing I do wonder, is there any way to turn on visibility of plan regions? It would sure be nice just to see them in a working plan so I know they are there and can understand why things are behaving as they are. Kind of like turning on Crop Regions.

None the less, I suspect the team will be doing a ton of plan regions tomorrow. I hope there are not performance issues with lots of plan regions.

Thanks,

I don't think you can control visibility. Plan regions are view specific, so you can have as many views as you want with as many configurations of plan regions. I don't think they hurt performance, you're just varying the view range over an area. I think what you were thinking of originally was ADT. You can make walls ignore the global cut plane and define what the cut plane is within the wall style.
