View Full Version : Hexagon Grid Bubble Oddities

We first looked at the OOTB hexagon grid bubble and noticed that the grid line ended up ending inside the hexagon.

We then made a copy and opened the family and then and rotated the hexagon to match the office standards so that it was rotated 90 degrees from the OOTB. When it was placed in the project, the end of the line for the rotated hexagon was outside the hexagon!

Is there anyway to get the grid line to stop at the hex bubble?

It really seem like a bug, as a workaround you could simply add a piece of line in the grid head template. That will fix it

Grid bubbles seem to work by maintaining an "extents circle" around the max extents of the linework. The bubble then remains horizontal(readable) no matter what angle of grid line. This is not how it should be working in my opinion. It should work just as the section head works. The bubble should stay oriented to the grid line and the text should remain readable.. I'm filing a support request. You should do the same. The more people that ask for an update to the functionality, the better chance we have of getting it.

It seems that 9.1 has this functionality already. My mistake. And I am not getting your results.

David, are you migrating an R9 settings ? If so, try recreating the grid head in 9.1

I did run into the issue of the grid extending into the bubble linework. I placed an "invisible line" circle in the family and then Revit uses that to trim the grid line.

Good Morning all,

I am sure I installed all new content when installing 9.1 For a test can someone send me an 9.1 hexagon grid to be sure?

Thanks

I did as Daniel suggested adding the extension of a new grid line slightly from the middle bottom line and drew down to fill the hole.

That worked, but if there was real fix for the this? I did notice after placing the hexagon, selected the grid and checked the box at the other end it displayed with the extension stub on the wrong side.

you would be better off rebuilding it in 91

Oh, wait this hexagon bubble rfa came from 9.1 content folder. So I don't get it with the "rebuild" thing.

Brad - nice trick with the circle, but what happens if your triangles are on the top of left? We've had problems with that since we use a triangle for Existing grids & a Circle for New
