Does anyone know how to change what diversity a load is calculated at. For instance you can if i have a microwave plug into a receptacle, I want that to be counted under the "other" diversity instead of the power. I have looked at the receptacle family and do not see where this can be added in.
Thanks

I have not found a way to do that either. But I was also wondering if you have found a way to take the Receptacle load and been able to apply NEC to the load. For instance if you have a receptacle load over 10,000 you can take 50% of anything over the 10,000, so if you have 15,000 in load you only have to take 12,500. I saw the setting in the electrical setting where you can take a percent which looks like it would work, but seem like the calculations are off and were not putting out the right numbers. Let me know if you have found the same problems and any ideas on how to get around it.
Thanks.

I have applied the demand factors and have come up this the same that you have. I am making a electrical circuit summary schedule for each panel and having an Admin. Assistant move that information to an excel spread sheet (the old way of doing it). As for the panels, I have found that they were created with "other" as the load characteristics. So if you have receptacles (power characteristic) in one panel, as the load goes the feeder panel the load can only be passed as a "other". yes you can change it to power, hvac, other or lighting but. if for instance, you had HVAC, Power and Lighting in a panel that load would go down the feeder as 1 of the 4 load characteristics not as the associated characteristics. Have you figured a way around this?

No I have not found a way around that either. I am glad I am not the only one that is giving problems with their panels and their demand factors.
I have been trying to figure out a way to not have to go back to "the old way" with excel. Cause I would like to be able to change the association of something if I would like them to count towards something else such as a motor or kitchen item. Guess that’s something we will hope they change in the next issue.

I hope they fix it quicker than that. My company is looking at switching us to this very soon. (next 2 months) What types and size of projects are you using Revit Systems for?

We are just getting into it as well, and trying to understand everything so we can swing into this as well. You say they are not doing the next update for 2 months? Is there any way to give them ideas on what they need to fix?

I have posted it to the Revit discussion group on Autodesk's web site.

We are going to start off with smaller projects just to get the feel of the program and then work are way into bigger ones I am sure. I am not exactly sure of the plain. What types and size of projects are you getting into with this? Where are you from as well?

Make sure you guys file service requests with Autodesk on all the issues you may have. Thats the only way to know what we need and want.

Where and how can I make a service requests?

Yes you can change a classification on a receptacle if you have a microwave to "other"
What you have to do is highlight the receptacle that you want to change and edit family. Then once in the family editor right click the receptacle connection, this is the right green and blue axis. Click on properties and in that box you can pick the load classification. You might have to create a different family special for that case so it does not count all the receptacles as other when you reload this back into your project.
I was still trying to figure out what you meant by this:
"As for the panels, I have found that they were created with "other" as the load characteristics. So if you have receptacles (power characteristic) in one panel, as the load goes the feeder panel the load can only be passed as an "other". yes you can change it to power, HVAC, other or lighting but. If for instance, you had HVAC, Power and Lighting in a panel that load would go down the feeder as 1 of the 4 load characteristics not as the associated characteristics. What do you mean it goes through as one 1 of the 4 characteristics and not the associated characteristics. I thought we wanted to be feed through as one of those 4. For example if you have Lighting and Power on one panel then you would want that to feed through as Lighting and Power to the Distribution Board right. And with the panel are you saying if you have “power” on the panel then when it gets feed through to the Distribution panel it is feed through under “other”?

Where and how can I make a service requests?
In Revit Building from the menu its: Help / Create Service Request. I'm not sure if its the same for Systems.

I have some microwaves in my project and I created a separate family for microwave receptacles. That way I can define the connector as "other" for its Load Classification.
This doesn't solve the panel problem however.
