I'll be doing some subconsultant work for a larger firm which uses Vectorworks on the Mac.
Are there any significant problems working back and forth with their system?

Good question Wolff...I don't know but I'm assuming you'll have to export to DWG format as the "middleman".

Are you going to be giving them a Revit file to work with or are they giving you a Vectorworks file? Either way DWG or DXF is the exchange format. Vectorworks files can be a real mess, as it is closer to Corel Draw than AutoCAD. Virtually everything is made with filled polygons on top of one another with fills that will all show up in one plane when you export to dwg. Some fills are invisible and only show up when you print and cannot be erased in AutoCAD. Not nice. Vectorworks has layers and classes which in Revit would translate to levels and object styles. The classes however are like layers in AutoCAD and are only applied to an object if the operator remembers to. So .. you can end up with a ton of classes which do not necessarily relate to objects.
