I have a multifamily project with 3 buildings types all in one file. The building department want 3 separated sets. What would be the best way deal with the separated sets? I've duplicated 3 title blocks with 3 separated Drawing List and dealt with the sets in PDF's. What a waste of paper. I've always produced multifamily projects in one set.

We have an issue with this in our office as well. Especially with a building that has multiple phases, where each phase is a different set of documents. As its all in one building, we keep it in one model, so we do not have to Coordinate the changes over various models.

The only major documentation issue that we found, is not being able to have duplicate sheet numbers. There can be only one A2.1. While it is not an ideal solution, we have turned all of the first phase in to 1A2.1, 1a2.2, etc; and the second phase is 2A2.2, and so on.

It went even further, as we have all of our Lease Out docs for the retail spaces in the same model. Numbering them got hairy, as each set of docs has the same page numbers. Now, they have very long page numbers, and the title block has to wrap the page number "34C A2.1", and so on. It just gets ugly around section markers, etc...

Not an ideal solution, but well worth the price to have everything in one composite model...

Thanks for the reply. I will try numbering each building type with a prefix. That's a good idea.

I'd create 3 copies of the file (keeping the original just for grins) and then delete 2 of the buildings in each file (though not the same 2 obviously) and then link them back together in a 4th file.
