If you're asking if you can modify the shortcuts used within revit, you can pretty much add/change anything in the menus bar to have a shortcut assigned to it. This is done within the "Program" folder of your installation. Just open the KeyboardShortcuts.txt file there and add/delete/change your shortcuts per the methods they use within the file.

When you change or add anything be sure to check down the rest of the list to ensure you don't have one shortcut assigned to two different commands. As a backup I always duplicate this file before modifying it.

TT is my tape measure shortcut of choice.

Just in case you haven't already seen these threads related to the keyboard shortcuts:

Wes started a thread that is full of great ideas with regards to shortcuts: Keyboard Shortcut Discussion (http://forums.augi.com/showthread.php?t=50716&highlight=shortcut)

An older thread started by Brian that has several keyboard shortcuts (both windows and revit based): Shortcuts / Cheat - Sheet (http://forums.augi.com/showthread.php?t=40708&page=1&pp=10)

Marek also has a slick utility for editing the keyboard shortcuts at a very reasonable price: Shortcut Highway v2.0 (http://forums.augi.com/showthread.php?t=51663&highlight=shortcut)

No there's not. You have to make sure that TT wasnt used anywhere else.

I am using the OTB KeyboardShortcuts.txt
I added the TT but then none of my shortcuts would work
luckly I had a backup

David;

I compared your file (with my favorite program, Beyond Compare by Scooter Software - check it out!) with mine & didn't find any errors or significant differences.
Are you using Notepad to edit the file? If you use Word or something more sophisticated than Notepad, it may be adding extra characters.

Also,
check what the status bar says when you try to use the command. If there is a conflict, a message will pop up there regarding which of the conflicting shortcuts you want to use. Syntax certainly seems fine, so I can't see what else the problem might be...

I have to agree with you, Beyond Compare is a must have.

Try this...
Open the file in Notepad,
Go "Save As..." and set the 'Encoding' to 'ANSI'. (Its currently set to 'Unicode'.)

I've attached a working file.

wow how did you catch that?
I guess revit is sensitive to the encoding of a text file?
wow I am glad autocad does not freak out on lisp and menu files

thankx

wow how did you catch that? From the file size, Unicode is twice that of the ANSI.
