We just upgraded to Revit, still don't know that much about it. How can we import Viz to Revit or to Autocad? please advise

make sure you are in a 3d view when exporting or you will get a flat acad dwg. Then in viz import a dwg, not a legacy dwg. if you import legacy dwg it wont bring your materials along.

import to Revit:

File-->import/link then choose the format. once in the dialog box, check the link (instead of import) box if you want it to act like an "xref", leave it uncheck if you want it to act like a "block". I usually check the current view only box too.

Export from Revit:
File-->Exports then choose the format.

We typically export the Revit model to Cad format, then from Cad we import into Viz. I don't think Revit is capable of just exporting straight to Viz or importing Viz files (*.3ds) to Revit. Things have to go through AutoCAD.
